Litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency that enables instant, near-zero cost payments to anyone in the world. Similato to Bitcoin, Litecoin is an open source, global payment network that is fully decentralized without any central authorities.

Litecoin is called “Silver” cryptocurrency, if BitCoin is treated as “Gold”.

Litecoin was started in 2011 with maximum total coins of 84 million.

Litecoin takes approx 2.5 minutes per transaction while Bitcoin takes roughtly 10 minutes.

Despite the fact that Litecoin’s algorithm is better, but it is acceptance, popularity and liquidity that matters in the crypto world that makes BitCoin the “gold” standard.

Litecoin creator Charlie Lee says that he sees the cryptocurrency being used for purchases whereas bitcoin is more a store of value

As on 21 Oct 2017, LiteCoin has market capitalisation of $3.11 billionĀ  with circulating supply of 53.4 million LTC @ $58 / LTC
